The 39th annual A Day in Our Village event will take place at Scoville Park and Rehm Park on June 3rd. This is a free event and free shuttles will be operating between each venue.
The next speed networking event from the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce will take place at Catholic Charities on May 3 beginning at 5:30. Dinner will be provided by Whiteboard Strategies.
The third A Night for Opportunities gala benefit will take place at the Elmcrest Banquets on April 14 from 7-11pm. Tickets are $75 and all proceeds go towards Opportunity Knocks, an organization providing support and programs for the developmentally disabled.
The Egg Hunt will take place at Ridgeland Common on March 31. Tickets are free but must be purchased in advance. The event will also be celebrating a century of fun at the Park District at Oak Park.
The Nineteenth Century Charitable Association is holding a Chinese New Year Celebration on January 28 from 6-10 pm. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, are $75 for adults and $15 for children; children over 4 are welcome to attend. Those who buy a table of 8 will receive a $20 discount.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a Community Challenge Grant Program grant to the city of Oak Park. This grant, which was announced by Senator Dick Durbin, will go towards the West Cook County Transit Oriented Development Strategy which impacts 5 communities. It will also allow Oak Park to support the acquisition, development, and preservation of affordable housing near transit stops.
The opening reception for the Fine Art of Printmaking will take place on November 17 at Prairie Title Services, Inc. in Oak Park. The Fine Art of Printmaking exhibit, which is presented by the Oak Park Art League, is a group exhibit will be showing at Prairie Title from November 8 until January 2012. The reception will give those interested in printmaking the chance to meet the artists and to view the tools and surfaces used.
